Mass Audubon is accepting nominations for the 2016 Mass Audubon Conservation Teacher of the Year Award, sponsored by the New England Farm and Garden Association. Three awards will be given to honor exemplary classroom or school-based teachers who have demonstrated outstanding contributions to conservation and environmental education. We would like to award individuals who exemplify both high quality teaching and creativity in environmental education. Nominations will be judged based on the following criteria:
  • Student learning has applications beyond the classroom or program to the local community, the scope of which could include (but is not limited to) community service projects, use of local open spaces, and/or study of the local environment.
  • Programs which have clear ties to the Massachusetts Science, Technology, and Engineering Standards.
All awardees will receive recognition at the Mass Audubon Annual Meeting as well as in our publications and communications outreach. Awardees will also receive a $1,200 monetary gift to cover materials and supplies for connecting students to their local environment. All nominations must be submitted by September 15, 2016
